All glass staircase London

Retail Store Covent Garden, London

The all-glass staircase in a converted shop in London's Covent Garden district leads from the ground floor to the gallery of a retail store. The glass supporting structure consists of a central cylinder, a spiral parapet with a stainless steel handrail, glass swords projecting from the cylinder, glass steps and the floor and parapet of the gallery. The individual elements are screwed together using stainless steel glass holders. The glass panes consist of VSG panes with different structures and different interlayers.

The central glass cylinder consists of eight panes made of bent, chemically pre-stressed laminated safety glass. The horizontal connection of the discs standing on top of each other is made by a stainless steel ring and point holder. In the vertical joints, the cylinder elements are joined together using point fixings. The curved parapet elements have the same glass structure as the cylinder discs and are also connected to point holders for power transmission. The balustrade rises at the bottom, is supported over the height by glass cantilevers and is connected at the top to the balustrade of the gallery. At medium height, 2 glass cantilevers arranged at right angles to each other pierce the cylinder. The 4-fold laminated safety glass panes are laminated with SG foil and connected to the glass parapet via point holders. The approx. 1.54 m wide glass steps made of 4-fold laminated safety glass with SG interlayer clamp between glass cylinder and parapet and are each fixed with point holders which were laminated between the individual glass panes of the steps.
