The glass bridge is the world's first prototype for a bridge made of cold-bent glass. The cold-formed transparent material, a complex spatial and stiffness-dependent load-bearing behaviour and the extensive use of adhesive joints are the special characteristics of this all-glass bridge. It consists of only three, with a radius of 16 m curved individual components: A glass plate and two glass balustrades arranged on both sides, curved in plan. The glass plate consists of eight, the balustrades of six float glass panes, each 4 mm thick, with highly transparent, shear-resistant SG laminated films. The ratio of stitch to span of the glass arch is extremely flat at 1:18. An extreme transparency and an unusual structural concept lead to an elegant appearance. Form, structural logic and detailed culture complement each other perfectly. The prototype is to be understood as a technology carrier for future applications in glass construction.
