Market town of Diessen
The market town of Dießen in the Upper Bavarian district of Landsberg am Lech borders Lake Ammersee for several kilometers to the east. The lakeshore in this area is very diverse and can be experienced in differentiated zones. The near-natural lakeshore landscape in the south of the 11,000-inhabitant municipality is interrupted by a public lake facility.
The redesigned shore area offers new qualities for spending time and overcomes the barrier between the town center and the lakeshore of the Ammersee community. Seating steps are designed as a recurring design element in the shoreline reinforcement. The steps are planned in different variations in terms of step length and arrangement of green areas. The reinforced concrete cross bulkheads are shaped in such a way that different step configurations and green areas can be constructed with the same shape. The supporting structure of the bank reinforcement consists of reinforced concrete wall panels, which serve as cross bulkheads and are arranged at intervals of approx. 4.00 meters. The upper edges are chamfered and support stair slabs made of in-situ concrete, which serve as a load-bearing structure for the natural stone steps. The transverse bulkheads are each founded on 1.50 m wide foundation slabs, which in turn are connected to each other by a foundation strip along the lakeshore. The stepped bank reinforcement provides direct access to the water.
At 4.30 m, the new bridge on the western bank is significantly wider than the existing bridge. The new structure can be used by pedestrians and cyclists and meets accessibility requirements. Variants in steel construction and concrete construction were developed and evaluated. The bridge superstructure and the abutments are built as an integral structure in reinforced concrete. The pavement and roadway are formed by a 22 cm thick slab supported by an arch at the bottom. With a constant thickness of 20 cm, this has a variable width in plan. Due to the high loads from the local construction yard's trucks in combination with a high groundwater level and low load-bearing capacity of the soil, the bridge is founded on three bored piles on each side of the bank.
