The design for the extension of the school building takes up the staggered arrangement of the existing building and the sports hall, thus completing the picture on the school campus. The delicate structure provided by the timber construction is defined on a scale appropriate to the children, while at the same time the rational grid allows the greatest possible flexibility in the arrangement of the rooms. Wooden columns in a regular grid, together with the reinforced concrete access cores and wooden beams spanning between them, form a skeleton structure as a supporting framework. The planned design of a ribbed ceiling with a concrete load-bearing layer on top has a number of advantages in terms of user comfort, particularly with regard to sound transmission and vibration behavior.
