The revitalization of the five-star Hotel am Schlossgarten is part of the redevelopment of the Schlossgarten quarter. The aim is to create a quarter with modern, efficient and flexible spaces, a sustainable energy and mobility concept and a revitalization of the public space by linking Königstrasse with the Schlossgarten.
In this context, the façade of the hotel is to be revitalized and the first floor zone redesigned. A lightweight tower façade was developed for this purpose. The existing natural stone cladding will be renewed using an upcycling process approved by the building authorities. The existing structure only allows additional façade loads to be transferred to the existing load-bearing structure to a very limited extent. A significant contribution to minimizing the dead weight loads of the laminated safety glass glazing of the new floor-to-ceiling windows is made by SentryGlas laminated films, which are used to activate a composite effect and reduce the thickness of the glass. The existing façade of the base building will be replaced by a new unitized façade with a design-defining passe-partout look. The passepartout frame will be used for greenery in some areas.
