The Hall E project at the AVI site in Raaba was handled as a general planning contract and involved the extension of an existing production hall with an additional hall bay. The original hall, built in 1997, is a precast reinforced concrete structure and was already prepared for a later extension. In the course of the current project, increased demands were placed on the supporting structure, as the new hall has a span of 25 meters and is designed for the installation of two hall cranes with a load capacity of 6 tons each.

The extension is based on the existing structure and was also constructed using prefabricated elements. The roof structure consists of trusses in a gable roof shape, which are arranged at intervals of 6.30 meters and span the entire width of the hall. The roof panel is formed by trapezoidal sheets. All relevant loads from the roof structure were taken into account in the design, including the planned photovoltaic system.

The roof loads are transferred to the columns via edge beams. These edge beams span between the precast columns, each supporting every second beam axis and at the same time creating a force-fit connection between the columns. The columns are clamped in socket foundations and equipped with crane brackets on both sides. The foundations rest on eight ductile piles each and ensure safe load transfer into the subsoil.

During the planning stage, care was taken to design the newly constructed wall axis in such a way that future expansion of the hall would be possible without structural restrictions. The facade rests on base elements and strip foundations and consists of prefabricated ribbed sandwich panels that meet the functional and design requirements of the industrial building.
