The Kapfenberg municipal and ice rink won over the jury of the Austrian Steel Construction Award 2023 in the " Continued use" category. We are delighted about the recognition!

Jury statement:
This project impressed the jury with the idea of reusing and upgrading an existing steel structure after almost 50 years of use in a highly corrosive environment.
The decision not to demolish the building, which had already been considered, conserves valuable resources and shows how the transformation of older existing buildings into facilities that meet the requirements of the here and now can be successful. The filigree steel construction has retained its lightness even after the corrosion protection was renewed and individual bars and nodes were reinforced, and positively characterizes the appearance of the entire complex.
